Featured Project: Weekapaug Golf Club
Weekapaug Golf Club is private member-owned golf club, established in 1997, in Westerly, Rhode Island. They care greatly about the land on which the club is located and have deemed themselves the environmental stewards. It was important for the club to be integrated with nature – not intrusive and with as little separation as possible. On this land you’ll find a waterfront 9-hole golf course, casual and formal dining, a fitness center and venues for weddings and events. Members of this golf club describe themselves as “a family of close friends, colleagues, golfers, parents and grandparents, children, foodies and general fun enthusiasts.”
The food aspect of the club is taken seriously. Their executive chef Dan Murillo is responsible for the locally sourced, seasonal and innovative menus that the club serves. There are several different options for dining including a pub, the deck or in the main dining room. Earlier this year, the club decided to do some renovations to some of these areas to further integrate the club with the natural surroundings. They started planning possibilities for how to separate their private and main dining room as well as how to open up the space between their deck and indoor seating area.
Ultimately, they decided to partner with Euro-Wall and implement two sets of Euro Vista Fold™ door systems to achieve the indoor/outdoor cohesive feeling. These folding doors create a large shared space for the two dining rooms and also a partition for when they’d like to separate the two for private events. The deck and indoor seating area now feel like one fluid space for guests to enjoy the natural surroundings. Even when closed, the view of the deck and golf course are now easily seen from the inside seating area.
